Simple Follow Me Social Buttons Widget is a very simple plugin to display the main social “follow me” buttons on your web. It uses an icon font instead of images, so this makes it very handy to style and it will display correctly in any screen.
No settings page or anything complicated to make it run. Only a simple widget that you can put in your sidebar, footer, header…
As it was mentioned before, it is easy to style and you can choose directly from the widget the color, size, text to display before the icons, if you want them rounded or squared.

This plugin has been breaking the customize panel on my theme when I go to edit it. It has been fine for the weeks I have had it installed and now it is breaking it. If there anything new that has made this happen?
Hi, yes, I made some changes on the code.
Can you please let me know the theme you are using so I can test it and fix it? If it’s a premium theme, could you send me the files?
Do you have the last version of the plugin installed (1.6)?
Thanks for reporting the bug.
The bug has been fixed, the current version with this last fix is 1.7.
Thanks for reporting the bug.
cute!
I use on my site AddToAny plugin http://freetoolzzz.com
Hi, what about an icon for bloglovin? Would be cool! Thanks!
Hi Nicole,
The Bloglovin icon has been added.
Regards.
Hi! Sorry, I don’t really get it… how should I use it? Thanks!
Hi Hédi,
You only need to install and activate the plugin (unziping the plugin and placing the folder into your plugins folder wp-content/plugins/), then on the menu you go to Appearance->Widgets and look for the widget “Simple follow me social buttons”, then drag the widget into the widget area you would like it to display, and then just configure your widget.
Please let me know if you have any more questions or if this explanation is not clear.
I am totally computer challenged (69 yrs) but I was able to at least create a blog! Now I just want to be able to add a “FOLLOW” button on it so I can send these followers automatic notices of any new postings. I downloaded that “zip” file, but now I don’t know what to do, or how to do it. Can you help? I’m really frustrated by this whole thing, but I don’t want to give up. I just want to add a FOLLOW button. How hard can that be?
Hi ayn,
I am happy to help, I will send you an email as soon as I can and see if I can help you.
Best regards.
LOVE your plugin – so stylish! and the option to change the size of the icons is fantastic. Any chance you might add an icon for Flickr?
Sure! I will try to included in the next release. Thanks for your comment, I am glad you like the plugin.
Hello,
Just activated the plugins, but I cannot manage to click on the social button that I want when managing it. They all stay hidden..?
Can you help?
Hi, by any chance do you have a cache plugin installed? If so, did you try to clean the cache files after installing the plugin?
Also, what version of wordpress are you running with? And what theme?
Thanks.
I do not have cache plugin installed. My version is 4.0 and my theme in Twenty Eleven
Sorry I have W super cache
How do I clean this?
Settings -> WP Super Cache , on that page you will see a button “Delete Cache”
Please let me know if this works. Hope it does.
It didn’t change anything unfortunately, any ideas why?
I don’t really know, I have tested the plugin with the theme you have and the wp super cache plugin and it seems to work fine, so I guess it’s probably conflicting with another plugin you have installed. Sorry I can’t really help much if I am not able to reproduce the problem. May be you can deactivate your plugins one by one and see if the icons show up after deactivating a specific plugin. Other wise I can’t really know what is going on.
If you decide to do this don’t forget to disable the cache before testing the deactivations.
Hi ,
Great plugin! Could you please add icons for Tumblr, Post and Category RSS feeds and HubPages?
Thanks,
Jordan
Yes, I will include these icons in the next update release! I am glad you are happy with the plugin.
Feel free to leave a review on the review page on wordpress.org and thanks for your comment!
I like this plugin, but I have white lines under each icon. They disappear when I hover over the icon, but I’d prefer to have just the icon. How do I hide the white lines? Thanks in advance!
Hi Michelle,
You can add this to your css:
But I will add this line to the plugin in the next release update.
You are the best! I really appreciate your quick response! It worked great :)
Hi,
I love this plugin, it’s really great! Could you please add a icon for deviantART?
Thanks,
Ginni
Hi Ginni,
Deviantart icon has been added. Also HubPages and Tumblr as requested by Jordan Paige.
Thanks for your comments!
Wow, thank you so much for your fast response :o)
Hello, thanks for this plugin !
Can you add Slideshare and Vine icon ?
Love the simple style and the color options. How about GoodReads? Thanks!
Hi! I’ve just started using this plugin and I love how it is configured and the design of the buttons, but I have a problem. I can’t see the icons properly. In Chrome I can see them, but only in my computer, in others I just see some coloured rectangles. I’ve also tried it on Firefox, and there it happens the same but inside the rectangles there are some numbers.
What have I done wrong? Is it possible to fix it?
Thanks in advance!
You can see my blog in: blog.rafaelredrado.com
Hi Rafa,
There was a problem with charset encoding. I have encoded and embeded the font in the css. This should do the fix.
In other hand, if you can see the icons only in some browsers it’s probably due to some configuration settings on the browser where you can’t see the icons.
Please update to the last version 2.2 and see if your problems are fixed.
If you are happy with the plugin please feel free to leave a review on the reviews section on wordpress.org
Best regards.
Thanks Lucy! Now it works perfectly. Keep up the good work, you are doing a very good job. I’m going to review your plugin to help you a little bit.
Thanks again,
Best regards
Rafa
Hi Lucy
Love this plugin <3 Nice, simple and easy!
Thank you for sharing ;-)
Thanks Sharon for your comment!! glad you like it :)
Thanks so much, sure beats trying to add the icons separately!
Any chance of a Last.fm icon if there is not one already?
Many thanks, Tango.
Hi Tango,
Yes, I will add this icon in the next update.
If you are happy with the plugin please feel free to leave a review on wordpress.org ;)

Hey Lucy,
very nice plugin – just what I looked for. Thank you so much.
What about a Xing.com icon?
I will leave a review! Thanks
Hi Lucy
I love this plugin – it looks beautiful and works perfectly.
Would it be possible to add a Trover icon? http://www.trover.com.
Thanks so much. :-)
Martina
Hi,
I really like this plugin, but I would like to be able to use it not only in the sidebar, but also above/beneath posts or somewhere else (with a shortcode).
If those options were there it would be my default plugin for adding social media buttons to clients’ websites. Is something like that in the pipeline?
Hi again! It would be really useful if you could add Stackoverflow to the plugin :)
Thanks!
Hi Lucy,
I am a bit clueless when it comes to editing in WP. However, I installed your plugin and activated it….and even got to the point of editing a FB icon. I’m unclear about placement though…where is it going to show up? After I saved it, it is not showing up on my website. What am I missing?
Thanks.
Bill
Hi Bill,
It should display on the widget area that you have draged it into (your sidebar, footer area, ….) So if you have already saved it with an active icon this one should show without having to do anything else.
Hello, congratulations for the plugin I am writing to know if you can add icons manuali.net and openclipart.org. Thank you very much
Great looking plugin – thanks for the hard work.
Can you add remind101, now called just remind.
Hello, this plugin was very nice, easy to install and very useful. It was nice to have also the icon button of the 500px.com and 1x.com photography websites, so will be fantastic to use in my photography site! You may satisfy this request? Thank you very much.
Sure! I will as soon as I can, I have several requests to add icons, but haven’t had the time lately release a new update with all these requests.
But I will include this icon in the next update.
Thanks for commenting and I am glad you like the plugin. If you are happy with it pleas feel free to leave a review on the wordpress.org repository :)
I installed your plugin on my new website and I love it! Thanks for the plugin. I just have one query. Can I have the buttons on two lines. I’ve added my social links and the buttons show in one single line and almost run out of the page. I need to have them in two lines. Please help!
Many thanks.
GJ
Hi, I will consider to add the option of lines on the plugin. I can’t promise it will be on the next update, but it will be on my list of futures.
Thanks for leaving a comment.
Best regards.
Love the buttons, are you adding reddit soon?
Glad you like them! Yes, reddit is on my list to add, I will try to add new icons as soon as possible.
Thanks for you comment.
Hi Lucy!
I love the look and the simplicity of your social buttons! However, after installing the plugin, I had the same problem as some people before me. I can’t select the buttons. They remain hazy and nothing happens when I press any of them. I’ve tried deactivating the other plugins already. I would really love to use your plugin!
Any help appreciated. Thanks,
Monika
Hi Monika,
I have done a fix, I hope this solves the problem. Please let me know if it doesn’t.
Last version with the fix is 2.6.
Best regards,
Lucy.
hello,
quick qestion, how do I add this to my footer?
thank you
Chris
You need to have a widget area for the footer
Hi ! Thanks for your plugin :) Would it be possible to add the scoop.it logo (http://www.scoop.it/) ?
thanks
Hi! the scoop.it icon has been added.
Best regards.
Is there any chance you will make a Scribd icon?
Sure! will include in the next release.
Hi,
It’s been included.
If you are happy with the plugin please feel free to leave a review on the wordpress repository
Great app. I’d love it if you could add Goodreads.
Oh wait, scratch that. You have Goodreads already. I missed it!
Hi Lucy,
Thanks for the great plugin.
Ive just added it to my new site in the footer area.
Is there any way to add the icons vertically rather than horizontally?
Thanks
Hi Neil,
There is no option to choose between horizontal or vertical, but you can add this in your theme css and it will display verticaly.
.sfmsb-follow-social-buttons a{
float:none;
}
Hi Neil,
I have added the option to display vertically.
If you happy with the plugin please feel free to leave a review on the wordpress.org repository
Hi Lucy,
Great plugin – is there a shortcode for it anywhere?
Hi John,
No, there is no shortcode available in the plugin.
I will take note of it. Thanks for your comment and feedback :)
Hi. This looks a great plugin but I simply can’t get it to connect with any of my social media accounts which are Twitter, FB & LinkedIn. I have the Studio Press Metro Theme. Can you help. Thanks
Hi Simon,
Can you send me the link to your web page? When you say you can’t get it to connect, do you mean the url’s are not displaying? Are they getting saved?
Such an easy plugin, than you!!!
All my icons remain the same color, am I doing something wrong?
If not, can you make it possible to individually change the icon colors?
I would like the ability to use the original color in order to best recognized.
Thank you so much.
Hi Christy,
Choosing a color for each icon is not a feature of the plugin. I will take note and consider it.
If you want to have the default colors of the icons you just need to clear the option of the color, leave it blank and each icon will have it’s own default color.
Best regards
Any idea if you will a fitbit.com follow?
Hi Steven,
I have paused the icon requests for the moment. I made the anouncement on the plugins page at the wordpress.oeg repository.
The reason:
The number of icons has grown considerably since the first version of the plugin, and because of this, the widget UI needs to be rethought in order to make a good experience for the end user.
I’ll soon be working on a new version of the plugin, until then I will no longer add new icon requests.
I want to change the size of the buttons but I don’t know what size is best. And every time that I type in a different number to change the size I save it and preview my site. Each time the icons’ size has not changed they look the same. How do I change their size and what is an appropriate size? I like the size of the icons at the top of this page.
Hi Bryn,
I will have to run some tests to see what the problem is.
Will get back to you on this as soon as possible.
Regards.
Hi Lucy, I downloaded your plugin after a friend recommended it. Do you know how to make it appear just before the comment box on posts? I placed the widget on “sitewide bottom widget area”. Right now it appears literally on the bottom of my posts. Thanks!
Hi Tomas,
That probably depends on the code of your Theme. The “sitewide bottom widget area” is probably called at the bottom of your posts. You should place it in other area, or create a new area and call it from your theme, but this requires some code knowledge… what theme are you using? maybe I can have a look.
Best regards!
Hey there! I’m at work browsing your blog from my new iphone 4!
Just wanted to say I love reading through your blog and
look forward to all your posts! Carry on the great work!
Do you think it will be possible to customize the order of the icons in a future update?
(Love this plug-in and left a review. Thanks!)
Hi Shaiana,
Thanks for your review! Yes, this will be a new feature I will add. Will try not to take to long for this.
Regards.
Hi,
I love the plugin. May I use the icons on a page in a product I wish to sell on Teachers Pay Teachers? I will pay for them.
Thanks for considering,
Ann H.
Sure! no problem
Hi Lucy,
Any chance of adding a Blab icon? Much thanks.
Hey Lucy, thank you for your plug-in. i have tried many, but yours is the best.
i am writing from istanbul Turkey and want to ask you about “how to add rel=no follow” to icon links?
thank you
I really like the plugin and all the icons you have! However, the email icon is extremely poor and hard to “see”. It needs to have a wider outline for the envelope. that thin line just doesn’t view well. Once this is fixed, it will be a great plug in. Thanks.
What about newest Google+ icon?
Thanks for the perfect post.By reading the article i tried it on one of the website i manage and it worked perfectly
Hello,
I’m looking for the snapchat icon ;) Do you still update the plugin ?
Thanks
Nice,
This is really great widget, thanks for sharing a beautiful gadget.
Thanks
